How to choose SUNSCREENS

https://www.instagram.com/drdavinlim/ Instagram- for skin care tips & more https://www.lasersandlifts.com.au My guide to skin treatments, lasers, peels, and many more https://www.realself.com/find/Australi... More before and after pictures, and real reviews How to choose SUNSCREENS? What is the BEST SUNSCREEN? Sunscreen forms the basis of skin care. It is the foundation of skin care. If there is one skin care product I can use, only one, sunscreen is it. Sunscreen can reduce pigmentation, reduce harmful UVA rays that promote skin cancer cells, collagen breakdown and solar elastosis. UV also generates free radicals that damage skin by altering the DNA. Why use free radical scavengers such as vitamin C, B and E when a good sunscreen can reduce the production of free radicals by as much as 95%? Prevention is the key to awesome skin. Sunscreens are extremely complex to understand, as they consists of many particles, and chemicals. This formulation depends on the TGA- Australian regulatory boards, the FDA in the United States and in Europe the CE Board. OK, it’s a little more complex than physical vs chemical sunscreens as many countries allow hybrid sunscreens- namely chemical as well as physical nanoparticles like zinc or titanium. To date, the regulatory boards only measure burn time or the SPF of sunscreens, not the UVA protection. In general, physical sunscreens offer more UVA protection, however brands such as La Roche with their Anthelios XL do offer high UVA protection. Avobenzone is another chemical that offers long wave protection for your skin. Here are my tips for the optimal sunscreen. 1. Firstly, pick a sunscreen that is cosmetically elegant. This means that you are going to enjoy using it. Skin is as individual as you are, so I can not recommend one particular brand. In general Invisible Zinc is cosmetically elegant and favoured by many. So are sunscreens from La Roche Posay. 2. Secondly, always use a hat or physical barrier as adjunctive sun protection. Even the best sunscreens do not protect against long, long wave UVA and visble light. 3. Thirdly apply frequently- twice a day if possible. Even more if you are going to the beach, surfing, or exercising outdoors. 4. Fourthly- use the correct amount. 5 Grams needed to cover the face, ears, neck and part of your décolletage. Physical sunscreen offer immediate protection, chemical sunscreens require application 20 minutes before UV exposure. If you ever consult me for conditions like melasma, sun spots, pigmentation, ethnic skin rejuvenation or ablative laser lifts I do apologize in advance for nagging about the importance of sunscreen use, after all it is the foundation of all things I laser. How to Choose the Best Sunscreen

It’s no secret that the sun provides all sorts of health benefits, including helping our bodies manufacture vital vitamin D. With beach season right around the corner, though, many people are looking for the best sunscreens to cut their risk of sun overexposure, sunburns and possibly skin cancer. The issue? All sunscreens are not created equally. In fact, a 2017 report from Environmental Working Group (EWG) found that nearly 75 percent of sunscreens didn’t work. That is to say these sunscreens provide inadequate sun protection and/or they contained harmful ingredients. Research shows that the vast majority of sunscreens available for purchase in the U.S. still contain damaging chemicals or fail to offer enough protection against ultraviolet rays. Skin care tips- facial moisturisers

The best place to buy discounted skin care products- I have no affiliation with them http://www.myskinpharmacy.com.au Moisturisers are the foundation of good skin care. My personal favourite moisturizer is LRP or La Roche Posay often with a SPF 15+. I only need an SPF 15 due to my skin type. For type one and two skin, I suggest a daily moisturiser with a SPF 30. Moisturisers protect the skin and can aid in the delivery of anti-oxidants, Vitamin A, B, C and other active ingredients. Occlusive moisturisers are essential for healing after many of my procedures including laser resurfacing, Fraxel, skin needling, microneedling RF, Infini, as well as chemical peels. Remember, skin is as individual as you are. For more help on finding the correct moisturiser, speak to the team at The Fiori Institute, or My Skin Pharmacy.
