Liverpool supporters in the Transfer Tavern are just about getting over their side’s disappointing 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League final last month, in turn seeing the Reds fail to clinch a sixth European crown. Jurgen Klopp’s men went into their meeting with the two-times defending champions off the back of beating Porto, Manchester City, and Roma en route to the showpiece, and thus full of confidence that they could get the job done in Kiev on May 26. However, the Merseyside giants were second-best, and a brace from Gareth Bale alongside Karim Benzema’s opener sealed victory for Real, thus securing a third straight Champions League title, and 13th in their illustrious history.
Liverpool fans will invariably argue that Jurgen Klopp already has the best defence in Europe. But the numbers say otherwise. Despite only conceding 10 goals in 22 Premier League games, it's been a different story for Liverpool in the Champions League. Klopp's side conceded seven times in six group-stage outings this season. Sixteen teams in the competition have shipped the same amount or fewer. The Reds don't have the best defence on the continent, but they might if the German manager signs Eder Militao.========================================================= References: -https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2019/01/16/eder-militao-would-give-liverpool-the-best-defence-in-europe/
Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is braced for offers from the MLS and is open to quitting Anfield and moving to the USA, according to the Mirror. The newspaper claimed via their live transfer blog on Wednesday [09:28am] that the 29-year-old is open to the idea of making the switch across the Atlantic despite the fact that he could be offered an extension on his current contract which expires in the summer. The £120,000-a-week [Spotrac] ace is allowed to talk to clubs from abroad given the status of his deal with the Reds, and he is prepared to get offers from the MLS.========================================================= References: -https://live4liverpool.com/2019/01/lfc-news/sturridge-ready-for-offers-from-mls/

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is reportedly eager to bring in just one new player in this January’s transfer window. The German tactician could do with a little more depth in his squad at the moment as he struggles with a mini injury crisis in defence.Joe Gomez has been out for a while, while Fabinho had to play centre-back in the win over Brighton as Dejan Lovren was also out. Klopp is now said to want one new signing this winter to come in and provide cover in defence and midfield, according to the Daily Record. No specific player is named in the report, but the Reds are said to be keen on bringing someone in on the cheap. It remains to be seen if Liverpool can find this fairly specific kind of player in the final two weeks of the transfer window, but it could be a crucial one for their title hopes.========================================================= References: -https://www.caughtoffside.com/2019/01/16/liverpool-transfer-news-klopp-wants-versatile-cheap-signing/
