They say this did not go down well with Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas, who decided to end the negotiations. It had previously been believed that Liverpool went cold on Fekir after discovering the knee problem in his medical. The attacking midfielder, 24, suffered the injury blow while playing for France in 2015. After days of transfer drama, Lyon called off negotiations for the sale of Fekir to Liverpool on Saturday night. The France international was expected to join Jurgen Klopp's side before Les Bleus left for the World Cup, but OL have now ended talks and called off the deal. "Transfer negotiations with Liverpool and Nabil Fekir for the transfer of the captain of OL have not succeeded and Olympique Lyonnais have decided to put an end to this negotiation tonight at 8pm," OL said in a statement on their official website. The 24-year-old was being courted by Liverpool as a replacement for Philippe Coutinho, who joined Barcelona in January. There were doubts as to whether the playmaker would pass a medical with the Premier League side due to a knee injury. However, that is now irrelevant, with Lyon calling the deal off.France Football Association president Noel Le Graet had suggested the move was almost completed - according to reports in France - before Lyon's announcement. The club's statement continued: "Although Liverpool have been the priority of a possible transfer for Nabil. Olympique Lyonnais is delighted to be able to count on the presence of our captain, who is a leading player for the 2018/19 season when the club will play in the Champions League.
Liverpool finished in fourth place in the Premier League and lost the final of the Champions League to Real Madrid. In what was widely considered a great season for the club despite their loss in the final, the Merseyside club has not claimed the coveted league title in England since their last triumph in 1990. The 28-year long wait for a league title could come to an end this season if the club holds on to their current roster of stars and add a couple of new faces to setup. Here we take a look at the three signings that will make Jurgen Klopp's team title challengers next season. ========================================================= References: -https://www.sportskeeda.com/football/3-signings-that-will-make-liverpool-unstoppable-ss

Nabil Fekir To LFC Confirmed... The ITKs knew first!
Lyon have sensationally ended negotiations with Liverpool for a deal over Nabil Fekir.
The France international was nailed on to join the Reds this weekend after a fee was agreed and a medical was complete.
Leaked photos emerged of the 24-year-old in a Liverpool kit and there were rumours that he had even conducted an interview with LFCTV.
But the Ligue 1 club pulled out of the deal on Saturday in mysterious circumstances and many believed the deal was dead.
They said on Saturday: "Olympique Lyonnais informs that the tripartite negotiations with the Liverpool club and Nabil Fekir for the transfer of the captain of OL have not succeeded and that Olympique Lyonnais has decided to put an end to this negotiation tonight at 8:00 p.m."=========================================================
